The Theological Education Department is the bedrock of the Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church (EKHC) ministry. The department equips pastors, church leaders, evangelists, and global missionaries with sound theological education to foster holistic transformation across Ethiopia and beyond.
History & Expansion
- Origins: The ministry began in the 1940s with local Bible schools, leading to the establishment of the Grace Bible Institute (GBI) in Jimma during the early 1960s as an English-medium college.
- Resilience: Despite closures during the Derg military regime, core Bible schools continued training church leaders.
- Current Reach: Today, EKHC manages over 19 English-medium theological colleges and more than 175 Amharic and Oromifa Bible schools, complemented by ongoing leadership initiatives like African Leadership (BTCP), Mekhima, and Mentor Link.
Vision & Mission
- Vision: To produce well-equipped ministers of God who bring holistic transformation to our churches, the people of Ethiopia, and beyond.
- Mission: To provide sound, biblically grounded theological education that shapes the holistic personality, character, and practical skills of trainees.
